On this episode I talked with Janine about when theatre and performing became the career path she knew she wanted to pursue, the outstanding musical theatre program at University of Michigan where she went to school, her impressive resume and how she’s able to find work in the theatre industry whether it’s regional work or on Broadway constantly, what it was like playing an iconic role like Rizzo in Grease on Broadway, her tour experiences, how she’s expanded her career path and is also pursuing TV and film, the album she’s working on, and MUCH MORE.

Janine DiVita is a Broadway and screen actress and singer, concert artist, advocate, entrepreneur, producer, director, teacher, and writer who finds inspiration in storytelling, creativity, ambition, and fun. She is equally versed in comedy and drama and with a range that covers Lady Gaga to Mozart, many have called her a vocal chameleon. Beyond her talents as a performer, Janine produces and creates successful projects with heart, determination, and strategy.

Janine double majored in Musical Theatre and Communications at the University of Michigan. She is the the only person to ever win both awards at the Univesity of Michigan available to graduating seniors: The Alan Eisenberg/Actors’ Equity Award and the Earl V. Moore Award both for excellence in Musical Theatre.

Her Broadway credits include starring as “bad girl” Rizzo in Grease, (directed by Kathleen Marshall), tap dancing up a storm in Anything Goes (directed by Kathleen Marshall), and solving Dickensian crimes in the murder-mystery comedy The Mystery of Edwin Drood (directed by Scott Ellis).

If her Broadway credits weren’t versatile enough, Janine has also toured the country in the Diane Paulus directed First National Tour of Finding Neverland in which Janine played Mary Barrie, the fabulous but lonely society woman married to J.M.
