Episode 181 with Boop! The Musical's Lizzy Tucker

On this episode I talked with Lizzy about her journey as a performer — from falling in love with musical theatre as a kid watching The Wizard of Oz and Smash, to her first big role as Gabriella in High School Musical, to finding her artistic voice at Texas State University with the guidance of incredible mentors. We talked about her first professional experience in Rent in New Orleans, the challenges and growth that came from it, and her exciting Broadway debut in Boop the Musical! Lizzy shares what it was like going through the Boop audition process, including an intense dance call with Rachelle Rak, how she learned the whole show in just a week, and what it means to her to be in the ensemble and understudy both Betty and Trisha. She also talks about the joy of working with legends like Jerry Mitchell, the importance of bringing her own voice to her work, the power of storytelling, and so much more!

Lizzy Tucker (she/her)

Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Lizzy’s always been called to entertain; to bring a smile to people's faces and make an impact.

Lizzy recently graduated in the Spring of 2024 from Texas State University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, under the direction of Kaitlin Hopkins. Eat ‘Em Up, Bobcats!

Along with a strong work ethic, Lizzy is a notorious goofball. She can be seen (and heard) laughing at almost everything, usually herself, and making incomprehensible noises. Although she loves to have a good time, Lizzy exudes diligence and determination in everything she does, full of passion and drive.

Lizzy strives to re-define “success,” counting career milestones and day-to-day wins as equal. She is a mental health advocate and hopes to use her art as means of inspiration and representation for those who may be struggling.

Off the stage, Lizzy is very passionate about astrological charts, keeping up with fashion trends, writing songs, making music playlists, her southern sweet tea, making Pinterest boards, and rewatching her favorite TV shows (specifically The O.C., How I Met Your Mother, & Bob’s Burgers). She also loves animation and hopes to pursue voice acting (she does a mean Timmy Turner, available upon request).
